express difficult emotions, and move toward acceptance over time.

Our psychologists can hold space for your experience, help you express and release emotions, and support you to make sense of the loss in a way that feels compassionate and values-driven.

No pressure to “move on.”
Just supportive grief counselling at a pace that feels right for you.

UNDERSTANDING GRIEF

What is grief and loss?

Grief is a multifaceted response to loss. It can include shock, denial, depression, anger, regret, guilt, thoughts about the loss, social withdrawal, crying, and changes to physical wellbeing.

Emotional reactions

Grief may involve sadness, anger, guilt, regret, shock, numbness, denial, or depression.

Thoughts about the loss

You may think about the loss, the circumstances around it, or what life might look like now.

Behaviour changes

Grief can lead to crying, withdrawing from others, needing more time alone, or finding daily life harder.

Physical impact

Grief can affect sleep, energy, appetite, concentration, and overall physical wellbeing.

Therapy can also support
acceptance, meaning-making, loneliness, complicated grief, life transitions, relationships, and adjusting to life after loss.

Grief has no set timeline

For some people grief shifts over months, while for others it may take years or return in waves.

Grief can be triggered again

Certain events, situations, objects, anniversaries, or reminders can bring grief back up over time.

You do not need to hold it together

Therapy can be a space where you do not have to minimise your loss or protect other people from your emotions.

Fees and rebates are available

Sessions start from $225, and Medicare rebates may apply with a Mental Health Care Plan.
